Lehmann Maupin is pleased to announce the opening of a viewing office in Seoul, the gallery’s second space in Asia.
The viewing office will officially open on December 14, 2017, with an inaugural presentation of works by some of the gallery's artists.
Lehmann Maupin has a historical connection with Asia, and Seoul in particular, given its long-standing relationship with renowned Asian artists such as Lee Bul, Liu Wei, Mr., and Do Ho Suh. This new location is a dynamic addition for Lehmann Maupin in Asia, reinforcing the presence of the existing exhibition space in the Pedder Building in Hong Kong.
The two-floor viewing office is located in the Sogyeokdong neighborhood of Seoul, between the Gyeongbok Palace and Bukchon Hanok Village. This culturally dynamic district melds the contemporary with the historic and is home to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA), Artsonje Center, as well as other major galleries.
“This new location in Seoul is an exciting addition to Lehmann Maupin. Not only does the gallery have strong ties with Korea through our work with artists such as Lee Bul, Do Ho Suh, and Kim Guiline, but we recognize the importance of expanding our presence in Asia,” says Rachel Lehmann, a founder of the gallery.
