A pioneering figure in new media since the 1970s, Tony Oursler has developed diverse methods of incorporating video into his practice that combine sculpture and multiple projections. On the occasion of his retrospective at the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts in Taiwan, Oursler was in conversation with Art in America assistant editor Emily Watlington to discuss his decades-long exploration of technology, particularly facial imaging software, and its lasting effect on society.
