Mounted at eye level on steel rods, Oursler’s new sculptures—digital videos projected onto intricate objects—have the creepy yet irresistible appeal of carnival barkers: they entice you to step on up and freak yourself out. A nude woman crouches inside the window of a box covered with drippy black resin, then jumps out unexpectedly; the projected image of a finger is superimposed over a life-size rubber finger; tiny men and women speechify almost inaudibly. The artist’s eerie, ghost-in-the-machine sensibility works surprisingly well on an intimate scale—these are Cornell boxes for the digital age. Through Dec. 4.
