Lehmann Maupin will present a curated selection of paintings by acclaimed American postmodernist David Salle as part of the fair’s Kabinett sector. A key figure of the Pictures Generation, Salle combines commercial imagery, direct observation, and art historical references to create a distinctive visual language. This Kabinett presentation traces the evolution of Salle’s practice by pairing a significant work from the early 2000s with paintings from his two newest series, New Pastorals and Windows. Emphasizing his recent exploration of digital and AI technologies, the selection highlights Salle’s continued experimentation with the possibilities of painting today.
The booth will also feature a new work by Anna Park, who joined the gallery’s roster in March. Sweet Talk (2025) continues Park’s examination of the cultural construction and perception of identity, sexuality, and power in an increasingly media saturated world. Beginning each canvas with an improvisational mark-making process, Park blends abstraction and figuration, composing scenes laced with signifiers of zeitgeist past and present. Recalling the vigorous energy of the graphic novel and radical fragmentation of Cubism, Park collapses individual moments into swirling abstracted tableaus. Recently, Park’s work was on view in solo presentation Look, look. Anna Park at the Art Gallery of Western Australia in Perth, and in In Dialogue: Catherine Opie & Anna Park at Lehmann Maupin in New York.
